Successful mission in China for Vernaccia di San Gimignano

An event organised by the Consorzio della Denominazione San Gimignano to present Vernaccia di San Gimignano to journalists and professionals from various regions of China is currently in progress at Yishang, the home of Enoteca Italiana in Shanghai.
A selection of twenty-two labels from eleven estates in the area was proposed yesterday, 20th January, to the trade press at the end of a seminar providing an introduction to the area and the appellation. During the tasting, journalists were able to familiarise with and appreciate Vernaccia di San Gimignano, which they discovered to be ideal for Chinese consumption, in that it can be paired with a wide range of dishes in the typical cuisine of various regions. The versatility of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a white wine with a good structure and acidity, amazed and convinced even the Chinese palates!
Today was occupied by a meeting with the professionals who had travelled into Shanghai from various regions and who showed a great deal of interest in the appellation, thanks to the quality of the wines, the typicality and the excellent price-quality ratio. Many of them think that this is the right time to introduce Vernaccia di San Gimignano onto the Chinese market, which is growing not only in terms of quantity but also of quality, made up of more careful consumers with a greater knowledge of wine than in the past.
The mission to China, as well as other events scheduled to take place in the United States in March, falls under the promotional activities pursued by the Consorzio della Denominazione San Gimignano, aimed at supporting its members in penetrating traditional markets like the United States and emerging markets like China.
