The producers present the new vintages of Vernaccia di San Gimignano at Vinitaly. The Consortium stand hosts the presentation of the 4th edition of the Gambelli Award.

March is a hectic month for the producers of San Gimignano: after New York, Chicago and Düsseldorf, from the 22nd to the 25th of March, they will be busy in Verona for Vinitaly, the most important wine fair in Italy, which attracts thousands of Italian and foreign operators and journalists every year.
The Consorzio della Denominazione San Gimignano will be in pavilion 9, which is dedicated entirely to the wines of Tuscany, in stand C14, with 125 labels available for tasting. The Vernaccia di San Gimignano docg and San Gimignano doc of the following estates will be present: Agricoltori Chianti Geografico, Cà del Vispo, Canneta, Cappella Sant'Andrea, Casa alle Vacche, La Castellaccia, Cesani, Il Colombaio di Santa Chiara, Falchini, Fattoria San Donato, Fontaleoni, Fornacelle, Guidi, La Lastra, Libanio Lucii, Il Lebbio, Macinatico, Mormoraia, Montenidoli, Palagetto, Il Palagione, Panizzi, Pietraserena, Poderi Arcangelo, Poderi Paradiso, Poggio Alloro, Rampa di Fugnano, Rubicini, San Benedetto, San Quirico, Signano, Tenuta La Vigna, Tenuta Le Calcinaie, Tenute Guicciardini Strozzi, Teruzzi & Puthod, Tollena, Vagnoni.
In the same area, 11 estates will have their own private space and if you are interested in talking to the producers as well as tasting their wines, here you will find Casa alle Vacche, Cesani, Guidi, La Lastra, Il Lebbio, Mormoraia, Poderi Paradiso, Poggio Alloro, Rampa di Fugnano, San Quirico, Signano.
All share a single aim: to present the new vintages of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, 2014 and 2013 for the Reserve.
Four days of tasting, and more.
Tuesday the 24th of April, at 12.30, the stand of the Consortium will be hosting the national presentation of the 4th edition of the GAMBELLI AWARD, created in 2012 by ASET (Associazione Stampa Enogastroagroalimentare Toscana-Tuscan Association of Wine and Agri-Food Press) and IGP (I Giovani Promettenti, the blog network set up by Lorenzo Colombo, Roberto Giuliani, Carlo Macchi, Luciano Pignataro and Stefano Tesi) in memory of Giulio Gambelli. Every year the award is given to a young oenologist under the age of 35, whose work has best embodied the idea of wine pursued by Gambelli: respect and enhancement of the typical characteristics of every single grape variety and of the terroir, as well as the particularities of the year’s harvest.
The presentation sanctions the entrance of the Consorzio della Denominazione San Gimignano into the pool of partner consortia (Chianti Classico, Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino) of the award. During the Preview of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2016, the Consortium will also host the presentation of the young oenologist’s award.
Giulio Gambelli was born and bred in Poggibonsi and spent lots of time in San Gimignano throughout his life, where respect for the grape variety and the terroir represents the essential ingredient for the production of excellent quality wines.
