The Agricola San Quirico has been in the Vecchione family since 1860. The vineyard extends for 22 hectares – 11 of which are devoted to Vernaccia di San Gimignano and 11 to Chianti Colli Sienesi. It is situated 4 Km. from San Gimignano on hills with an excellent exposure to the sun, at an that varies from 200-300 m above sea level. The quality of the soil is optimal for commerce since 1974, making a name for themselves in the best national and international markets.
On 3 March 1966 VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO was the wine into receive the mark of ruarantee – DOC – and on 9 July 1993 the mark of guarantee and control – DOCG.
Among the most prestigious Italian whites, this wine is produced exclusively in the District of San Gimignano (SI).
*Vernaccia di San Gimignano has a pale soft yellow colour ( tending to gold when aged). It has a fine and penetrating scent, dry taste it is harmonic with a characteristic slightly bitter aftertaste. Suggested for hors-d’oeuvres, for all fish and shell fish dishes and by many people appreciated as an aperitif..
Vernaccia di San Gimignano may also have the tipology “RISERVA” which comes from the choice of the harvest and from a minimum ageing of 15 months.
The “CHIANTI COLLI SENESI” from San Quirico is a traditional Chianti composed by 100% Sangiovese. The color is ruby, with a vinous taste moderately tannic, very suitable for ageing.
The “ROSEE” in obtained from the same grapes as Chianti with a different process of wine making called with fermentation.
